President - Nicole Ganow

Nicole is a fourth year from Marshall, Virginia studying speech language pathology. She grew up eventing with Morningside Training Farm in The Plains, VA and is now on the dressage team. She says, "the dressage team is the best way for me to ride and still allow tons of time for work related to my major. Love VEDT!"


Vice President - Sara Schulman

Sara is a fourth year studying economics from Herndon, Virginia. She competes at the Preliminary level with her horse Not for Nothing "Snip".

Dressage Captain - Desiree Dixon

Desiree is a fourth year nursing student from Stafford, Virginia. She currently competes on the IDA team at the lower training level as well as doing dressage with her own horse SkyDancer.

Eventing Captain - Maddy Ix

Maddy is a second year from Crozet, Virginia. ​She competes in eventing at the Preliminary CIC* level with her horse The Gambler. 

Secretary - Joyce Hong

Joyce is a fourth year from Vienna, Virginia. She is majoring in biology and psychology and pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. She rides with the IDA team.

Treasurer - Leela Abrishami

Leela is a second year from Great Falls, Virginia hoping to major in cognitive science. She has been riding for seven years and events with her crazy OTTB mare, Ellie. She loves riding dressage at UVA and is looking forward to the next four years with the team!

Morgan is a fourth year from Charlottesville. She represented Area II at the 2015 FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships and is now competing her horse Cooley Cavalier at the Training level.


Arden is a third year from Little Rock, Arkansas. She competes at the intermediate level with her two horses Ultra T and No More Rocks. In 2017, she was on the gold medal winning CIC** team at the FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships.


Christy is a fourth year from Winchester, Virginia, studying biology. She rides with the eventing team.


Emma is a second year from Sterling, Virginia hoping to study biomedical engineering. She has competed up to the preliminary level and has her C3 pony club rating.


Caitlin is a second year hoping to major in History from New York, New York. She has competed through the two-star level and is currently competing her horses Killea Gynis View and Fernhill Fugitive. 


Lindsay is an H-A pony club member from Middleburg, Virginia. She has experience up to Training level eventing and spent a gap year working at a foxhunting barn in Upperville, VA before coming to UVA. She is currently working on bringing along her green OTTB, George Michael.


Elena is a second year majoring in political philosophy, policy, and law from Washington State. At home, she evented at the preliminary level. At UVA, she rides with the dressage team.


Emily is a second year from Roanoke, Virginia. She has ridden for 13 years and events with her horse Flicka up to the novice level. She rides with the dressage team.



Mimi Combs was the First Alternate for the US eventing team at the '96 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga, has represented the US at the Burghley 4 star in England,  has placed numerous times at Rolex and Fair Hill International, and has placed as well at the Checkmate and Bromont Internationals in Canada. She is an A graduate of the  US Pony Club, has competed through 4th level dressage, was North American Young Rider Champion, and was winner of the USEA Courtney Reeves Award.  Mimi has ridden in many USET Elite Training Sessions and has been coached by top trainers her whole career.  Mimi enjoys teaching all levels of students and horses, and has a degree from Principia College in Sociology and Anthropology.

She is located at her training facility, High Point Farm, in Charlottesville, Virginia with her husband Mark Combs. 



Sam graduated in 2017. She was an active member of VEDT competing at IDA shows and eventing through training level with her horse Demitri.


Lucy graduated in 2017. During her 4 years with VEDT she competed with the IDA team, evented through the CCI* level and was club president in 2016.


Samantha graduated from UVA in 2017 with a degree in aerospace engineering. She competed at the novice level with her horse Waffles.


Annie graduated in 2017. She was an active member of VEDT competing with her horse Justin through the Preliminary level in eventing.


Lori graduated in 2017 with a degree in Kinesiology. She competed consistently with IDA through her four years at UVA.


Ellen graduated in 2016 with a degree in Biology. She competed on the IDA and event teams and was club president in 2015.


Alex graduated in 2018 with a double majoring in Political & Social Thought and Economics. She is currently eventing with her horse On Broadway "Katz" an OTTB gelding. She was club president in 2017.


Meredith graduated in 2018 with a degree in Environmental Thought and Practice. She has evented and foxhunted and was an active member of Pony Club.


Rachel graduated in 2018 with a degree in Classics. She aspires to be a veterinarian. Rachel was IDA Captain and competed with the team. She currently events with her horse Andy.


Christy graduated in 2019 with a degree in biology. She rode with the eventing team.


Kate graduated in 2019 with a major in Environmental Science. She is currently competing at the preliminary/CCI* level with her horse Cillnabradden Ceonna, an Irish Sport Horse mare.


Elana graduated in 2019 with double majors in Public Health and Spanish. She represented VEDT at the IDA nationals in 5/2019 and placed 8th!


Helen graduated in 2019 with a major in biology. She evented with her horse, April Eclipse, and rode with the dressage team. Helen served as club president in 2018.
